50 g – Organic ceremonial matcha tea from Japan

Organic Ceremonial Matcha Tea from Japan is a premium quality green tea powder that has been used in the Japanese traditional tea ceremony for almost a millennium. Ceremonial matcha is made from tea leaves grown in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight, thus encouraging the production of higher levels of chlorophyll. For the ceremonial matcha, only the best and softest tea leaves are plucked and ground to a bright green powder. This is the type of ceremonial matcha that meets the EU’s organic standards.
This ceremonial matcha comes from the Kagoshima region of Japan, which is the largest organic tea producing region.
Matcha is rich in antioxidants and it also has caffeine, but it is completely different from the caffeine in coffee. Our matcha Hisui has a very pleasant, aromatic and mild taste. That is why it can be consumed as a pure tea, as an energising drink or as part of the main tea ceremony.
Unlike some other green tea powders made from leaves, including veins and stems, our matcha does not contain these bitter components.
Research on matcha and its components has revealed a wide range of health benefits. The trace elements in matcha powder are said to help maintain healthy skin, normal iron metabolism, cellular protection against oxidative stress, normal blood pressure, red blood cell and haemoglobin function and more.
A traditional matcha whisk, also known as a “chasen”, is used in the Japanese tea ceremony to make matcha tea with a foam. The broom is handmade from a single piece of bamboo. Precise cuts create flexible “hair” that are gently bent at the bottom and joined at the top and finished with a special wooden handle.
Matcha tea preparation:
Place 1/2-1 teaspoon of matcha (1,5 g) in a cup or matcha bowl (the wide bottom of the bowl makes it easy and comfortable to whisk the matcha in water and quickly extract the foam) and fill with up to 100 ml of hot water (80 °C). Rinse the matcha until your bowl is filled with a perfect jade-green foam in about 20 seconds. Now you can add more water if you want your matcha to be less strong. You can add vegetable milk and sweeten to taste.
For best results, the whisk should be soaked in hot water before use.
