Organic chamomile flowers are renowned for their calming properties and are often used in teas, tinctures and skin care products. They are rich in antioxidants such as apigenin, which help to reduce inflammation, support digestive health, promote relaxation and better sleep.
Chamomile is also known for its ability to soothe skin irritations and promote wound healing when applied externally.
Chamomile is most commonly prepared as a tea, but can also be used in bath infusions, compresses or home-made beauty products for a soothing effect. The recommended daily dose of chamomile flowers depends on the form of use:
Tea: 1-2 teaspoons (2-4 grams) of dried chamomile flowers per one glass of water, taken 1-3 times a day.
External use: Chamomile infusions or extracts can be applied to the skin as needed. Although they are generally safe, excessive use may cause allergic reactions, especially in people sensitive to calendula, chamomile or calendula, and may interact with certain medications.
