Organic linseed oil is cold-pressed, unrefined.
Organic linseed oil from high linolenic varieties of Linum usitatissimum is yellowish in colour and has a characteristic nutty, bitter taste. (A bitter taste is not a sign of oil failure.) The cold-pressing method makes the oil the same as linseed and retains all its valuable properties.
Flaxseed oil is high in Omega-3 fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid ALA). Omega-3 fatty acids, which belong to the essential fatty acid (EFA) family, are extremely important for the body and should be consumed as part of a balanced diet.
Properties of organic linseed oil Olandia:
– The essential unsaturated fatty acids in flaxseed oil play a role in the construction of the cell membrane, supporting the proper development and health of the whole body.
– Omega-3 acids support the development of the nervous system (in children, deficiencies of these acids are associated with impaired concentration, motor function and even dyslexia and many other behavioural disorders and ADHD. A sufficient supply of omega-3s reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s disease)
– The omega-3 acids and vitamin E in the oil remove excessive levels of free radicals. They thus support the treatment of allergic and autoimmune diseases (lupus, psoriasis and multiple sclerosis).
– Unsaturated fatty acids help maintain normal cholesterol levels and have a positive effect on the circulatory system.
– The high levels of phytoestrogens in linseed oil support hormone production and may relieve symptoms of premenstrual tension and menopause.
– Its properties make linseed oil ideal for use externally as a cosmetic or as an ingredient in creams, masks and conditioners. Fatty acids and vitamin E nourish, elasticise and strengthen skin and hair.
Flaxseed oil should only be used cold!
